Kitchen & Bathroom Fixtures

About Kitchen & Bathroom Fixtures

Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are the focus here. The collection includes kitchen and bar faucets with pull-out or pull-down sprayers, two-handle laundry faucets from Moen, rain and handheld shower heads, tub and shower trim sets with valves, porcelain vessel sinks, towel bars and toilet paper holders. Water treatment is a large part of the range as well: whole-house filtration systems, coconut carbon block cartridges, pitcher and countertop filters, replacement cartridges from Everpure and Waterdrop, and portable bidets, with Brondell among the brands carried.

For faucets, the first measurement is the hole pattern in your sink or counter: single-hole, 4-inch centreset or 8-inch widespread. A single-hole faucet can often cover a three-hole sink with a deck plate, but not the other way around. Shower heads are rated by flow; 2.5 GPM (9.5 L/min) is the usual plumbing code maximum, and water-saving models run around 1.8 GPM. Handheld units need a hose long enough for your stall. Keep finishes consistent within a room, since chrome, brushed nickel, matte black and gold rarely sit well side by side. For filters, the micron rating and NSF/ANSI standard tell you what a cartridge is designed to reduce, and replacements must match the housing model exactly.

Most faucet supply lines connect to 3/8-inch compression shut-off valves, but older homes may need adapters, so check under the sink first. Whole-house filters go on the main line after the meter and usually need a bypass loop, which is a job for a plumber if you are not comfortable cutting pipe. In hard-water areas such as much of the Prairies, a sediment pre-filter protects the finer cartridges downstream.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between centreset and widespread faucets?

A centreset faucet has the spout and both handles on one base that spans a 4-inch, three-hole layout. A widespread faucet uses three separate pieces, typically on 8-inch spacing, and many can stretch to about 16 inches. Measure from the middle of the left hole to the middle of the right hole before ordering.

How often should water filter cartridges be replaced?

Follow the capacity rating, given in litres or gallons, or the time interval, whichever comes first. Carbon block cartridges for faucets and pitchers usually last two to three months, while under-sink and whole-house cartridges often run six to twelve months. Slower flow or a taste or odour coming back are signs the cartridge is spent.

Will a high-pressure shower head increase my water pressure?

It cannot raise the pressure coming into your home. These heads use smaller nozzles or a narrower spray to make the same flow feel stronger. If pressure is low at every tap, check the main valve, the pressure regulator or a clogged aerator; if only one shower is weak, mineral buildup in the head or valve is the usual cause.

Can I install a vessel sink on any vanity?

You need a counter with a drain hole and a faucet that clears the raised bowl, either a tall vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. Most vessel sinks have no overflow, so pair them with a non-overflow drain. Check the finished height too; many installers aim for the rim to sit roughly 76 to 91 cm from the floor.
