3M Paint Project Reusable Respirator 6211P1-DC, Medium – NIOSH OV Cartridge & P95 Filters

The 3M Paint Project Reusable Respirator 6211P1-DC is a reusable respirator kit for spraying and brushing coatings, solvents and pesticides. It arrives ready to wear: a medium reusable facepiece, a 3M 6001 organic vapour (OV) cartridge and 5P71 P95 particulate filters, joined by 3M's bayonet connection so cartridges twist on and off quickly.

Two layers of filtration

The 6001 cartridge handles organic vapours from latex and oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, sealants and solvents. The 5P71 filter sits over it to catch spray dust and other aerosols. The "P" in P95 means the filter is oil-proof, so it keeps working when oil mists are in the air, which matters with oil-based finishes and some pesticide sprays.

Fit and comfort

The face seal is soft thermoplastic that shapes to the contours of the face and spreads pressure during long sessions. The swept-back cartridge layout keeps the cartridges out of your line of sight, so you can watch the spray pattern and the wet edge while you work. 3M describes this medium size as suited to smaller faces; a good seal depends on the right size, so do a fit check every time you put it on.

Typical jobs include spray painting with latex or oil-based coatings; varnishing, staining and sealing furniture, decks and trim; and working with spray adhesives and certain pesticides.

The kit is intended for workplace or occupational use. Read and follow the label directions for each application, and replace cartridges and filters as those directions specify. Because the facepiece is reusable, only the consumables need changing between projects.
