Shelly Plus Uni | Smart Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Module with Dry Contacts – No Hub Required

The Shelly Plus Uni is a tiny Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module for making low-voltage devices smart. It runs on 8–24 VAC, 9–28 VDC or 5 VDC, so it can be powered from the same supply as a gate opener, intercom, alarm panel or doorbell transformer, and connects straight to your Wi-Fi with no hub.

Dry contacts, explained

The Uni's outputs are dry contacts: isolated switches that close a circuit without putting any voltage on it. That is exactly how the push button on a garage door opener, an intercom or an alarm keypad works. Wire the Uni across the same terminals as the existing button, and the app can now press that button for you, while the physical button keeps working.

Things people build with it

• Gate or garage control: open and close from your phone, with a reed switch reporting whether the door is actually open or closed
• Intercom or doorbell: get notifications when someone is at the door
• Alarm panel: arm or disarm remotely
• Metering and sensors: pulse counting and sensor inputs for custom automations

The reed-switch status is the feature that makes remote gate control trustworthy: you do not just send an open command, you can see that the gate really closed.

Ecosystem

Everything is set up in the Shelly Smart Control app, where you can get event notifications and build scenes that trigger several Shelly devices in sequence. The Uni also works with Alexa and Google Home. It doubles as a Wi-Fi range extender and a Bluetooth gateway for other compatible Shelly devices.

Good to know: this module is for low-voltage circuits only, within the ranges above. Keep it off household mains wiring.
