Description
xOverview
Zinsser Gardz Problem Surface Sealer is an interior sealer designed to address highly porous or troubled surfaces. It deeply penetrates textures such as plaster, cement, drywall, stucco, and uncoated wallpaper to form a moisture-resistant film. The result is a solid base that helps paint adhere more predictably while reducing surface chalkiness.
This low-odor, water-based formula dries clear with a matte finish, creating a hard, paintable seal over damaged substrates, adhesive residues, and other chalky surfaces. The product is ready to apply as a foundation coat, helping to stabilize problematic surfaces before finishing coats.
Key benefits
- Repairs torn paper on damaged drywall and minimizes bubbles during coating
- Seals skim coats and spackling for a smoother topcoat
- Protects new drywall by sealing porosity before paint
- Seals old wallpaper adhesive to prevent bleed-through
- Easy to apply with a high spread rate and fast drying time
Ideal surfaces and uses
- Porous drywall and plaster
- Texture finishes and cement-based surfaces
- Uncoated wallpaper and adhesive residues
Notes for project planning: start with surface cleaning, apply in thin, even coats, and allow adequate drying between layers. Gardz sets up a ready base for subsequent primers and finishes, helping you achieve a more uniform appearance on challenging areas.
