Description
xOverview
The Square D QO2020 tandem miniature circuit breaker is designed to help you optimize panel capacity while preserving critical circuit protection. Sized for use in common QO loadcenters, this unit provides two 20A circuits within a single 1-pole footprint at 120V, offering a practical option for denser layouts.
What it does
As a tandem breaker, it occupies the space of one standard single-pole device but delivers two independent circuits. The 10 kA interrupt rating aligns with many residential and light commercial fault-current profiles, providing robust protection within its specified voltage class.
Compatibility and specs
- Fits QO loadcenters, NQOD panelboards, and many interiors and switchboards
- Compact dimensions: 0.75" x 2.91" x 3.5"
- Interrupt rating up to 10 kA
- Supports two 20A circuits in one space at 120V
Real-world uses and installation tips
In homes or small offices, this tandem breaker helps distribute power efficiently when panel space is limited. Before installing, verify panel compatibility and voltage rating. Note that this unit is not rated for 240V circuits.
- Lightweight, easy-to-handle component designed for quick upgrades
- Pairs well with existing QO/NQ/NQOD configurations to maximize available slots
- Supports neat, organized interior layouts that can improve airflow inside the panel
Installation considerations and best practices
Plan circuit distribution to avoid overloading a single bus position. Always follow local electrical codes and consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about compatibility with your panel model.
Why choose Square D
Square D has a long history of reliable electrical protection and broad panel compatibility. The QO2020 tandem breaker offers a practical path to expand capacity within supported panel models while maintaining a clean, organized interior. This design emphasizes simplicity of upgrade without sacrificing protection.
