MYPIN Fingerprint Padlock with Key Backup – Waterproof, 360° Recognition

The MYPIN Fingerprint Padlock opens with a touch instead of a key or combination, which is handy for a gym locker, a school locker, luggage, a bike, a golf bag or a cabinet. There's no app and no Bluetooth to pair: the fingerprint sensor and its memory are on the lock itself, and a backup key comes with it for emergencies.

The sensor reads at 360 degrees, so you don't need to line your finger up a certain way. Set the administrator fingerprint as soon as the lock arrives; that limits who can enroll further prints and makes sure only registered fingers open it.

Build

The body is aluminum alloy and the shackle beam is stainless steel. It has an IP66 rating, which means it is dust-tight and protected against strong water spray, so rain at the bike rack or a wet gym bag isn't a concern. It is not designed for long periods in heavy rain or snow, though.

Charging

• Battery: 240 mAh rechargeable
• Charge from a USB power source under 5V
• Around 2500 unlocks per charge, depending on use
• Backup key if the battery runs flat away from a charger

Thousands of opens per charge means most people top it up only occasionally, but if you're travelling for weeks, pack the backup key separately from the lock.

Good to know: wet or very dirty fingers can make any fingerprint sensor slower to read. Dry your hand before unlocking, and enroll a second finger in case one is cut or bandaged.
